Is this okay?

It's 4:52 AM and I can't sleep. So I decided to do some blogging.
I'm very sure the above statement is very familiar to many of us, especially if we shop 2nd hand stuffs online on forums. You get to see this statement more often nowadays. Some people would conveniently use this term 'lowballer' without even understand what it really means. It means: to bargain extremely lower than that of the retail price or the reasonable price. So if a person is selling a pedal at $100 (when it costs $80 for new) and the buyer bargain it for $70, will you call him a lowballer?

In my opinion, this term is best not used when selling an item. I had never used this term when I'm posting ads in the forums. Reason? The negative connotation of this word is enough to chase people from buying stuffs from you. People may think twice before wanting to deal with you. After all, first impression is very important. Of course, I do get rather excessive (sometimes even absurd) bargains while trying to sell my things. Never would I scold the person off or ignore their SMS when a simple & polite reply could solve all the problems.

Now, I'm not targeting this to any specific people in the forum or anything. I know the frustration of getting 'lowball-ed'. However, why would you want to chase potential buyers away from you?

Just my personal thoughts...

what you said may be true, but if the buying is sincere about buying whatever, then he would buy it regardless of what i put there on the ad.

Maybe like your post above on sweelee sale, the term "no lowballing" is used to deter people who try to be funny and get whatever item i'm selling significantly lower. Whenever i DON'T put the line "NEGOTIABLE BUT NO LOWBALLING", i always get a couple of calls or sms from immature morons requesting that i sell my item at only around 60% of the price i listed on the ad. And my prices are already roughly 50% off original firsthand store price.

Hey anonymous

I guess it depends on you. If you get easily annoyed by smses from low ballers, then i guess you should put that line down just in case you blow up in a fit of anger.

but for the both of us, i guess we are patient people:)

Hi my anonymous friend there, :)

I can understand how u feel. Like I've mentioned, there are people who do try to lowball me. But i feel tat it is not worth to spoil my day just cos of tat so i rather solve things calmly. :)
It is your own freedom to post what u want on ur ads of cos. In fact, what u said isn't offensive or have any strong negative connotation. It is much better than saying 'lowballers step aside', 'lowballers, don't bother contacting me' and so on.
Every coin comes with two different sides. There are different views among different people. Thank you very much for sharing ur views with us. :) I really appreciate it.

hhhmmm....in dis case, we cant juz ignore them. they are juz asking about the price. and if we dont agree on them, juz say it in a democratic way, dats all! after all, we are singaporeans right? we do ask for discounts and the best price we can get. i do get enquiries on rediculous prices sometimes. i juz told them dat da price is too low, dats all.
